21st Century Kid
A couple weeks ago we were at some friends' house and Malia had to go potty. As we walked into the bathroom, they had a magazine with Oprah on the cover. Malia pointed to it and exclaimed, "Oprah!". I acknowledged her and she continued, "We don't have her anymore. Wanna record her?".
Goose Poops
Tuesday night I made Caribbean Jerk Chicken with pineapple, couscous and green beans for dinner. It was really good, even if I'm the only one who thinks so! Anyway, as I put all the food on the table, Malia was sitting there and asked me what "that" was (pointing to the couscous). In fact, it went just like this:
Malia: Mmm! What's that?
Me: That's couscous.
Malia: mmmm! Goose poops! That looks good!
I laughed so hard I cried, then immediately called Justin. Definitely the funniest thing this week!

In Sickness and in Health
I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, although my lack of posts might say otherwise. We have been crazy busy-sick around here. It's really been unending since September. I really haven't had a chance to sit down and write anything because I feel like all I've been doing lately is taking everyone to the doctor's office. Now I have a few minutes because, once again, EVERYONE is sick. Everyone, but me.
It started in September with the plague of ear infections Pressley had until December. One in September, two weeks later, one in October, two weeks later, another in October, two weeks later in November and about 3 weeks after that, she got tubes and had another ear infection. I didn't even know she had this ear infection. She was right on schedule for it to come, but this time, no fevers, "decent" sleep, no symptoms. So she got the tubes anyway and in about 3 weeks from the surgery, she was finally sleeping well. By well, I mean that she would go to bed at 9ish, and sleep until 8 or 9 in her own bed, and if she did wake up and cry, she could go back to bed without our help. She hasn't slept like that in about a year. Even in the summer when she wasn't sick, she would be up at all hours, like a newborn-every two hours, four hours at a time, you name it. So now she's finally sleeping. While I'm so thankful for that, around Christmas, everyone but me got pink eye. We had one week of health after that, no sickness from anyone, then both of the girls got a cough and cold which turned into a virus and ear infection for Malia. She had a fever of 102-103 for 4 1/2 days, terrible drainage, throwing up and just laid on the couch for most of that time. After she began to feel better (we're now in mid-January), I got pink eye 3 days later. Once my pink eye cleared up, a week later my dad ended up in the hospital and the day we got back from visiting him (yesterday), Pressley was up throwing up, along with Justin, and then Malia woke up throwing up (today). So far, I'm not sick, and Pressley seems to be feeling a little better. (She's up playing with Lily right now). Oh, and did I mention, our house went on the market on Thursday? We had 2 showings yesterday-right before all this sickness happened. I think the saddest part of this day, is that for the first time in weeks, not only is the sun out, but it's 48 degrees outside. I am praying that everyone feels better really soon, because this is suppose to be a beautiful and warm week. It would do us good to get outside, walk on the trail and let the warm weather kill these germs that keep attacking us!! I can't wait for spring.

These are the Days...
So, here's how my week has gone...
We got back from WV last Thursday, only to go (almost) straight to a wedding rehearsal until the girls' bedtime. Friday morning was spent looking for a new TV stand because the one we have is on it's last leg (literally). We had a wedding that evening until we left at 9. Saturday morning brought a nice surprise visit from Justin's cousin Tyler and his wife Natasha, Justin to rehearsal, Saturday evening church and hanging out with some college kids afterward. Sunday morning Justin led worship for both services, had an 18 mile run afterward and then we took the girls to Chuck E Cheese's for Piper's birthday party.
Now, it's Monday...did I mention I had a basket full of laundry I hadn't folded before our WV trip waiting for me? Not to mention the now dirty laundry I was bringing back and the overflowing pile in the hamper? Yeah, I'm on top of things...oh, and then there are all the Christmas decorations that need to be put away, along with all the NEW toys, clothes and presents from Christmas that need to find a new home! Plus, just cleaning the house in general...oh, yeah, and the new puppy. So Monday went like this...me trying to play catch up, Lily on a peeing spree (peeing in the house 4 times in 10 minutes, two more times later that day and two poops in her kennel), Pressley throwing the laundry I was folding and laying on the couch off on the floor and a college Bible study that night that Justin was leading (fortunately NOT at our house). Needless to say, I didn't get much done that day. Tuesday was much better and I felt accomplished at getting most of the toys organized and put away, all the Christmas decor put away (minus the tree that is sitting naked in my living room right now) and let's just say all the laundry is washed-most of it put away. Justin had rehearsal that night, and we had dinner with a college student. Wednesday, was even better as Lily had been accident free up until that point, we had dinner at the church that night and went to the mall to see about getting our Mac fixed. I took the girls to the bathroom so Malia could "go potty", and Justin, who was waiting outside the bathroom for us heard our little commotion. Coming out of the bathroom, we had a little conversation that went like this:
J: What was going on in there?
Me: Oh, Pressley was just trying to crawl under the stall to get away.
J: ha ha
Me: She's the kid that will do the things that Malia wouldn't dare to do.
So after the mall trip, we got home and Justin had a couple of the college guys over to watch a movie.
Yesterday morning we had dance class and after we came home, I went into Malia's room to find some surprise doggy poo on her carpet (I swear, kids are way easier than dogs...) Prior to my little find though, we got home from dance, and I asked Malia to help Pressley get her shoes and coat off so I could let Lily out to pee. Malia is a great helper to me for these things, so I grabbed Lily and ran upstairs with her so I could let her out. Little did I know that while I was peeing Lily, Pressley had smuggled a marker upstairs (remember, she's the kid that that will do things that Malia wouldn't dare to do). So, guess what I found after lunch? Yep, Pressley had colored on the kitchen garbage can, the kitchen cabinets, the gate...oh yeah and my couches too. My "white" couches, with a bright yellow marker. I use the term white loosely because they are a little less white than when we bought them 5 years ago. But still...
Anyway, that's been my week...days to remember, I guess... that I will someday very much miss. After all, I ask Justin all the time, "What in the world did we do before we had kids?". I now I wonder what in the world I will do when they are all grown up. Maybe I'll have clean, white couches? Yeah, I'll never buy white couches again. That was the stupidest thing ever.

Top 8 of 2008
Here it is (a bit late), my highlights of 2008. This list rather pales in comparison to previous years-no trips to Spain or other big travels, but it was a good year.
*Malia asks Jesus in her heart
*New Kids on the Block concert with my sister (after 20 years of waiting!)
*Wicked in Cleveland & driving through a blizzard/20 inches of snow, risking our lives to go
*Tattoos in NC
*Chip and Karyn's Wedding
*Reconnecting with Cindy through Facebook (after about 6 years of no contact!)
*Niagara Falls & a weekend in Toronto
*Finding out Malia and Pressley will get a cousin in 2009
