Jesus

*Passing a graveyard*
Pressley: That's where you go where you die.
Me: Yes, your body goes there, but your spirit goes to heaven to be with God. You'll go to heaven if you have Jesus in your heart. Who has Jesus in their heart?
Malia and Pressley: Me!!
*Walk down memory lane telling Malia about when she asked Jesus in her heart*
Pressley: When did I ask Jesus in my heart?
Me: I don't know Pressley, when did you?
Pressley: Jesus, come in my heart! I asked him, but I don't feel him!
Me: He's in there Pressley!
Malia: We'll how did her heart open up so he could come in?
Me: I don't know Malia, ask your daddy!
Pressley: Does Daddy know a lot about Jesus?
Me: Yep, that's what he went to school for.
*Fast forward later that day*
Malia: Daddy, how did my heart open up so that Jesus could come in it?
Justin: *Explaining a bit about the Holy Spirit*
Pressley: Daddy, do you know a lot about Jesus?
Justin: I know a little bit.
Pressley: Well, you know a lot about Santa!

Isabella-ER and Dr Appointment follow-up

Sooo....I had taken Isabella to the ER right after Thanksgiving. She had been having fevers the entire week following Thanksgiving, and it had finally hit 104.7, and since it was past doctor visit times, we went to the ER. We had been to the doctor twice during the week, and they checked for strep and ear infections, and both were negative. So finally once we went to the ER, we found that she had a UTI. Apparently with UTIs that include fevers in infants, they want to to 2 studies, which included an ultrasound and Xray watching her pee (they were looking for reflux). We got her results back this week and it turns out she does have reflux, and she has it pretty severely. So we are scheduled to see a pediatric urologist on December 30th in Hershey. She has to remain on an antibiotic indefinitely, and will be monitored by the urologist (I'm guessing we'll be making multiple trips to Hershey for the next few months) in hopes that she will grow out of this. If she doesn't grow out of it, the next step will be surgery to correct it. We'll get more information at her appointment as far as how long the monitoring will last, when decisions like that would be made, etc, etc. and I will obviously write to keep everyone posted. Until then, we're just praying that she will out grow it and we can move on!

Six the Season!

"Six the Season to the Jollies...Fa La La La La La La La La!"

100th Post!!

Yay! This is my 100th post this year! I'm pretty proud of myself! I have really tried hard to write down as much as possible over this past year. Considering I wrote very little last year, I am glad to have 100 memories from this year written down. Hopefully next year I can write even more! So...here's to my 100th memory of the year...We were in Pittsburgh last night for a wedding of friends of ours from The Chapel. We had a great time...stayed with the Trier's and were able to see several of our friends and catch up on what's been going on! We headed back today because Justin had to work, so the girls and I decided to play makeover. They had so much fun drawing all over my face, and then each others' faces! We of coarse had to follow our makeover session with a head to toe bath!

In case you are wondering...the black stuff on my forehead is "fur"...I'm a rock star kitty cat!

Trouble

Pressley: *Pulls apart pencil sharpener and dumps out shavings*

Me: Pressley! Why do I always have to tell you to leave that alone!

Pressley: *Sad face* "I'm sorry Mama." *Hops off the stool and stomps away* "Awww! I'm always being bad!"

Beiber Fever...or not.

Last night Justin went in to give Pressley a kiss good night after he got home from work. She groggily "woke up" saying, "I just...I just don't...I just don't love the Beib". That's my girl!

Earrings and Flu Shots

Today has been quite an adventurous day. It started a couple weeks ago when Malia mentioned to us wanting to "maybe" get her ears pierced. I took her one evening to the mall to check out the earrings that were available (a much bigger selection than I had when I was five--and even when I was 18!). So she looked, and decided she wasn't ready, and we went home. Fast forward to today. She said to us she'd like to go back and look at earrings, so we went. Justin came along and she showed him the earrings she liked, and then Pressley chimed in and said she wanted to show us the earrings she liked too. Then she announced that she wanted to get her ears pierced. I was sure she would back out. Nope. She was bouncing through the mall..."I wanna get my ears peered!" I looked at Justin...I'm not ready for this...and at the same time, she wanted to do it, so I didn't really want to discourage her...and Malia wasn't interested. It's not that often that Pressley really, truly gets to do something on her own. She copies everything that Malia does. So, Justin signed the paper and Pressley jumped in the chair. No fear. The lady cleaned her ears, placed the dots and pulled the trigger. Then the tears stared to stream down her face...which caused the tears to stream down my face. After the tears stopped, she was very proud of herself and couldn't wait to call everyone and tell them. I must say, I am feeling a bit of buyer's remorse...ha ha! Oh well...it would have happened eventually anyway...and I must say, I am proud of Malia for not "feeling pressured" to pierce her ears and follow along just because Pressley did it. Though I think she may feel a bit of remorse of her own, as she's told Pressley about 100 times today how cute she looks with her new earrings.

So...that was my morning. My afternoon was spent getting flu shots for the girls. No fun. And poor Pressley..."shots" in her ears followed by a shot in the leg. So here I am...sitting in the doctor's office with three little girls in need of a shot. I'm thinking to myself...who in the world is going to go first, and to my surprise, Malia volunteered. She said, "I'll go first since I'm the big sister". This is the same little girl who will fight with Pressley over who gets their hair shampooed first because she doesn't want to, or will argue over who gets out of the shower first because she doesn't want to...so of coarse I was shocked that she would offer to take the bullet to get a shot! Especially because I could see the fear all over her face. So it begins....1st shot. Tears. Isabella is next. Tears. Pressley's turn. She started crying after Malia went. By the time it was her turn, not just tears. Screaming. Jumping up and down, crying and screaming, "I'm scared!!!". She wouldn't sit on my lap, so I had to lay down on the bed and restrain her while she was scream at the top of her lungs as if she were getting her leg cut off. And I didn't cry this time. I had to hold back inappropriate laughter, because that's what I do in awkward situations. Laugh. What happened to my brave girl who just got her ears "peered"? Well...if that wasn't bad enough...the doctor had to do a follow up from Isabella's ER visit on Friday. She informed me that UTIs along with fevers in infants are not typical, and that because Isabella had both, they needed to run some further tests on her to make sure it is not an anatomical issue. So the hospital is suppose to call me this week to have her brought in for an ultrasound to check her kidneys, etc. Then, if that's not bad enough we have to have another cath done to inject her kidneys with dye to make sure she is not refluxing urine. If she's fine, we just continue on antibiotics, and if she's not, we see a pediatric urologist. Ugh. So that was my day. It ended on an up note at least, as I took the girls for some ice cream at Chick-fil-a and to see Justin, and then we came home and made a mitten garland. So, needless to say, I'm not looking forward to whatever day I take Isabella to the hospital, and I'm praying that it was just a fluky UTI that is not really a big deal...and I guess we'll see how round 2 of flu shots go a month from now. Hopefully Pressley won't freak out like she did this time!
