These are the Days...
So, here's how my week has gone...
We got back from WV last Thursday, only to go (almost) straight to a wedding rehearsal until the girls' bedtime. Friday morning was spent looking for a new TV stand because the one we have is on it's last leg (literally). We had a wedding that evening until we left at 9. Saturday morning brought a nice surprise visit from Justin's cousin Tyler and his wife Natasha, Justin to rehearsal, Saturday evening church and hanging out with some college kids afterward. Sunday morning Justin led worship for both services, had an 18 mile run afterward and then we took the girls to Chuck E Cheese's for Piper's birthday party.
Now, it's Monday...did I mention I had a basket full of laundry I hadn't folded before our WV trip waiting for me? Not to mention the now dirty laundry I was bringing back and the overflowing pile in the hamper? Yeah, I'm on top of things...oh, and then there are all the Christmas decorations that need to be put away, along with all the NEW toys, clothes and presents from Christmas that need to find a new home! Plus, just cleaning the house in general...oh, yeah, and the new puppy. So Monday went like this...me trying to play catch up, Lily on a peeing spree (peeing in the house 4 times in 10 minutes, two more times later that day and two poops in her kennel), Pressley throwing the laundry I was folding and laying on the couch off on the floor and a college Bible study that night that Justin was leading (fortunately NOT at our house). Needless to say, I didn't get much done that day. Tuesday was much better and I felt accomplished at getting most of the toys organized and put away, all the Christmas decor put away (minus the tree that is sitting naked in my living room right now) and let's just say all the laundry is washed-most of it put away. Justin had rehearsal that night, and we had dinner with a college student. Wednesday, was even better as Lily had been accident free up until that point, we had dinner at the church that night and went to the mall to see about getting our Mac fixed. I took the girls to the bathroom so Malia could "go potty", and Justin, who was waiting outside the bathroom for us heard our little commotion. Coming out of the bathroom, we had a little conversation that went like this:
J: What was going on in there?
Me: Oh, Pressley was just trying to crawl under the stall to get away.
J: ha ha
Me: She's the kid that will do the things that Malia wouldn't dare to do.
So after the mall trip, we got home and Justin had a couple of the college guys over to watch a movie.
Yesterday morning we had dance class and after we came home, I went into Malia's room to find some surprise doggy poo on her carpet (I swear, kids are way easier than dogs...) Prior to my little find though, we got home from dance, and I asked Malia to help Pressley get her shoes and coat off so I could let Lily out to pee. Malia is a great helper to me for these things, so I grabbed Lily and ran upstairs with her so I could let her out. Little did I know that while I was peeing Lily, Pressley had smuggled a marker upstairs (remember, she's the kid that that will do things that Malia wouldn't dare to do). So, guess what I found after lunch? Yep, Pressley had colored on the kitchen garbage can, the kitchen cabinets, the gate...oh yeah and my couches too. My "white" couches, with a bright yellow marker. I use the term white loosely because they are a little less white than when we bought them 5 years ago. But still...
Anyway, that's been my week...days to remember, I guess... that I will someday very much miss. After all, I ask Justin all the time, "What in the world did we do before we had kids?". I now I wonder what in the world I will do when they are all grown up. Maybe I'll have clean, white couches? Yeah, I'll never buy white couches again. That was the stupidest thing ever.

Top 8 of 2008
Here it is (a bit late), my highlights of 2008. This list rather pales in comparison to previous years-no trips to Spain or other big travels, but it was a good year.
*Malia asks Jesus in her heart
*New Kids on the Block concert with my sister (after 20 years of waiting!)
*Wicked in Cleveland & driving through a blizzard/20 inches of snow, risking our lives to go
*Tattoos in NC
*Chip and Karyn's Wedding
*Reconnecting with Cindy through Facebook (after about 6 years of no contact!)
*Niagara Falls & a weekend in Toronto
*Finding out Malia and Pressley will get a cousin in 2009

A Christmas Story...
Malia and I had a little conversation on the way to the Christmas Eve service on Wednesday. Here's how it went: (get your tissues ready...)
Malia: (out of the blue) I love God and Jesus
Me: Aw, baby, they love you too.
Malia: In my story bible, on my desk, the bad people put Jesus on a cross. Why did they do that?
Me: (Trying to explain in a 3 year old way) Well, you know when you do bad things, like be mean or disobey? Jesus died on the cross so you could be forgiven for those bad things. But, remember, he didn't stay there, what happened to him?
Malia: He came back!
Me: That's right!
Malia: But if we have Jesus in our hearts, won't God miss Jesus? Shouldn't we send Jesus back to God, so he won't miss him?
Me: (sniff, sniff) No, it's ok. You should keep Jesus in your heart. God is everywhere, so he is with Jesus too.
Malia: Oh. God and Jesus have mustaches.
Me: (now laughing quietly)
Malia: That's how they look in my story bible.
Malia: Tell me a story about God and Jesus.
Me: Umm...ok...hmmm...when Jesus was on earth he used to help people alot. Like, he would help people who couldn't see, be able to see.
Malia: Where were their eyes?
Me: Oh, they had eyes, they were just sick eyes and they couldn't see, until Jesus made them better.
That's the basic conversation....definitely the sweetest talk I've ever had with her. It was very cute listening to her!

RIP Blue the Bug
About a year ago, Malia created invisible bug friends for all of us. Her bug is named Jacket, mine is Flewy, Justin's is Blue and Pressley's is Ducky. She's mentions them on occation, but mostly we talk about Jacket, her bug. On our way to Tyler and Natasha's wedding on Thursday (yes, Justin's cousin Tyler got married!), somehow the conversation turned to Jacket the Bug. Justin asked Malia if Jacket came with us, to which she answered, "Yes, he's flying up there (pointing to the sky)". And she proceeded to tell us that Flewy and Ducky came too. So, Justin asked, "Where's Blue?". "Oh, he's in heaven with God and Jesus". Justin asked her why Blue was in heaven, and Malia said, "He died". Surprised by her response, Justin asked her what happened, and Malia said that he got killed by a big, mean bug. We couldn't help but laugh, especially when she continued to tell us he was killed by a big, mean girl bug named Mixy.

Tubes

Pressley got her tubes today! I'm so glad it's all over! She did really well. We got to Children's about 6:15 this morning (got up around 4:45! Yikes!). Her surgery happened about 8 this morning. Justin went in with her for the anesthesia-brave man! There is no way I could have done that! He said it was the hardest thing he'd ever done. She didn't want to put the mask to her face, so they had to fight her over that, and then she just went limp. He said he felt sick. I sat and kept my mind off it by reading Twilight. The procedure was fast (though it didn't feel like it in the midst of it). The doctor came and got us after everything was over, and informed us that her right ear was infected (right on schedule-she's been getting them every 3 weeks). I had no idea she had an infection, she'd actually been sleeping well, and no fever! Plus, when we went in that morning her eye was red and gross-pink eye! We got to go in after she woke up, and she was very upset-crying and crying and crying. She cried until we got in the car and she fell asleep. We were in the car and headed home by 9:15. So surgery and all only took an hour. I can't complain. Especially considering there was a family in the waiting area with us who's child was going through a 5 hour surgery. Pressley is doing great though. Right now I'm sitting in the basement with her and she's running around playing with her toys. I'm just hoping that now we get our sleep back permanently!
